Born and raised in New York City, I began woodworking in first grade -- elementary school students could work on a wood project in the basement shop for one hour each week. Needless to say, Wednesday became my favorite day of the week! As we were limited to hand tools, I think this was the origin of the adage, 'The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys'!
After earning my BA from Penn and JD from Fordham Law, I shared my time with General Electric, Lockheed Martin, and family.
Living in Gainesville, Georgia today, my grown-up shop is at home and focused on furniture and distinctive boxes; making it very convenient for the wife to check in, she is also a design sounding board. Without great design, why bother? I guess you could say I have been a woodworker for 70 years. And I think I have learned a thing or two!
